As I sat in pool water that was nearly ninety degrees last week, my sweaty eyelids gazed through the heat radiating off the street to see something truly atrocious: an autumn wreath hanging from my neighbor's door.

Then I thought about it. Why was I so annoyed? Yes, it was over 100 degrees. No, I don't live in the desert. But did that mean I had to suffer in the heat with the palm trees wilting in their pots and listening to Jimmy Buffett singing A Pirate Looks at Forty for the umpteenth time since the Fourth of July? Perhaps my neighbor was right. Maybe it was time to pack up the beach towels and start posing my skeletons doing yoga by the pool. Then, a curious question came to mind.
